I'm very happy with how the drums turned out. The very first version of the song was made in 2015 and remained similar for years. It came back into rotation when I decided to make an album.

Ben and I worked on ‘When I’m Gone’ today. The song wasn’t far from finished, but I was open to any ideas he had. I really enjoyed the synth melody. Very grateful for his time and talents.

For the climax of 'When I'm Gone', I imagined big toms. I always like hearing these big Chinese drums, where the wooden sticks hit the metal rim of the tom. So I dusted off my old drumkit and toms I had stored in the shed. I put my phone cover at the edge of the tom to make it sound more punchy.

I couldn't stop moving when I made this song. I'm very happy to see it does that to my friends as well. Can't wait to share it with the world!
